Aquino recently won Best actress in this year’s Cinemalaya in the critically-acclaimed indie movie Donsol. Angel can be seen in the latest commercial of Pantene together with Ruffa Gutierrez, Gretchen Baretto and Dawn Zulueta.
Angel and her three siblings were raised single-handedly by their mother. Now that she’s doing well in showbiz, Angel, as the eldest of the children, has assumed the role as main breadwinner. Angel got pregnant when she was 19 when she was still a student in UP Baguio. Her husband left for the United States after Angel gave birth to their second child. Because of their five-year age gap, many people thought that the relationship between Angel Aquino and Lui Villaruz would not work, that it would end eventually; she is 35 years old and he is 30. "I think when you're with someone that long, naiisip mo na siya na yun, especially at this age, parang hindi na ako magsasayang pa ng oras. But at this moment kasi, Lui is very young pa. I know naman na marami pa siyang gustong patunayan sa sarili niya and I want to give him that space. I want to give him that time to explore himself and get to know what he is really capable off, kasi malaki talaga yung potential niya," paliwanag ni Angel.
